Why is the constitution under attack by those who swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend it?

I am against the Patriot Act since it's inception! To me the only legal tool we have to fight it is our vote! All of those now setting in congress & the Senate who voted for this act should be voted out of office! You know, so far, I haven't heard any one running for public office mention this act being shoved down our throats, if you know of one, please let us all know who has done so, ASAP!
