Was Hitler really that bad?

I'm thirteen and in my Wrold History cl we've been studying WWII, the Holocaust, and Hitler. I was just thinking, everyone portrays Hitler as this big horrible mean guy. I understand his opinions about wanting one supreme race were wrong, but don't you think maybe he did something good in the midst of doing something bad? Germanys was in a pretty bad situation after WWI. In a way, he fixed it. Don't you also think it's harsh to say Hitler killed six million Jews in the holocaust? He didn't personally walk around with a gun blowing peoples heads off. I know that he ordered them to be put in concentration camps, but it's possible that the Nazis within the camps were more brutal than Hitler would have wanted. As one man, he couldn't possibly have monitored everything that went on everywhere. Hitler also had some good qualities, he loved children and animals. He didn't drink, do drugs or smoke. He was a decent artist. He even came up with the ideas for the Autobahn and Volkswagon. Is it possible that Hitler was misunderstood?
