Oreos for Cup of Dirt?

I'm making some "cups of dirt", you know the dessert things with the oreos and gummy worms on top. I've never actually made it myself before so I don't know what exactly to do with the cookies. Should I crush them whole with the cream and everything, or just the actual cookie part? None of the recipes I've looked at really specified that...
