How much information do I need to tell my family about my new boyfriend?

He has a criminal background. He's done his time and is looking for work, but its not easy. Some of my family that I have told, thinks I'm crazy for even dating him in the first place (they tell me I can do better - even though they've said that about all of my boyfriends, and this is the first one that has been to prison.) The only reaon I MIGHT have to tell them anything is because he's on the List. He has to register every time he moves. The charge was for ATTEMPTED CSC. He was 19, she was 15. She said she was older, her parents found out and pressed charges. That was 10 years ago. They only restriction is he can't live close to a school. He doesn't have to be supervised around children, he's NOT a child molester. But ppl, including some family members already don't trust him and don't want him around. I care about him and like him a lot. He is honest with me and tells me like it is. I respect that he's trying to get back on his feet, I just don't know if I NEED to tell the family everything about him. What do you think?
